Househunters in the Midlands are having to dig deeper to buy new properties than their contemporaries in the rest of Britain, a new survey has revealed.

Meanwhile home owners in the region are the least confident in the UK, with 77 per cent expecting prices to rise compared to a national average of 84 per cent and 94 per cent of Northerners.
