Summary


The Army failed to ensure the safety of a 17-year-old recruit who drowned during a training exercise in a Welsh cave complex, a specially convened Crown censure hearing found.

Kevin Sharman panicked and drowned in a notorious part of the Porth yr Ogof cave complex in the Brecon Beacons in July 2002. He was on the first day of a week-long training course in Sennybridge, Mid-Wales, when he joined a party of 11 teenage recruits on a caving excursion.
