Labour MP Angela Smith has raised her concerns about the abolition of the 10p tax rate with senior ministers but is not resigning as a member of the Government, the Treasury said last night.

Ms Smith, MP for Sheffield Hillsborough, is Parliamentary Private Secretary to Treasury Minister Yvette Cooper and had reportedly told colleagues she intended to quit over the controversial tax move.
