Summary


Kenilworth Castle was originally built out of timber, on the royal estate of Stoneleigh, which King Henry I gave to his chamberlain Geoffrey de Clinton in 1129.

When Henry died, the castle was taken back by his grandson, Henry II, and became property of the royal family again.
