I can't imagine how actors turn round plays of any kind quickly enough for weekly rep, let alone one as finely nuanced as Mike Leigh's most celebrated stage play.

So it's much to the credit of the resident company in Wolverhampton's Charles Vance Summer Rep Season that they gave such an enjoyable first performance of it, notwithstanding some inevitable rough edges. Had I seen it a bit later in the week, I suspect this would have been a four-star review.
