Experts say they have developed a new heart pump that does not require invasive surgery.

The pump, developed by researchers at Brunel University's Institute for Bioengi-neering and London's Royal Brompton Hospital, is fitted in the heart via an incision in an area like the groin. This differs to traditional pumps, which are fitted during major open-heart surgery. It is a similar technique to that used for fitting stents in blocked arteries.
