Dear Editor, - Much as I respect the work of Barbara Prashing (Post, March 7) I write in defence of the thousands of extremely good teachers who work in our schools in Birmingham.

How on earth can teachers find the time to assess the individual learningneeds of the 30 children in her/his class and match their teaching styles to their individual needs?
