Extra supplies of fuel began arriving in Scotland yesterday as First Minister Alex Salmond prepared for a possible meeting with Gordon Brown to discuss the Grangemouth oil refinery strike.

About 65,000 tonnes are being shipped to ease pressure on the forecourts in the wake of the 48-hour walkout at Scotland's main supplier.
