Police Survey Scrapped in War On Red Tape

Summary


Home Secretary Jacqul Smith has scrapped an annual police survey - a step the Home Office estimates will free up nearly 150 police officers and staff.

The survey requires about half of all officers to document every 15 minutes of their working day over a two-week period. It will be binned as part of moves to cut red tape in England and Wales. Ms Smith will also announce the creation of a team of officers to examine the Impact of any new policies on bureaucracy levels.
