Tougher economic times have not dampened the appetite for football pools, the owner of the Littlewoods, Vernons and Zetters said yesterday.

Liverpool-based Sportech said trading in 2008 "started well" and had continued in line with management hopes for the first 18 weeks. Shares closed up 1p at 77.75p.
