Summary
November 16 1963: Fishmonger Albert Pearce serves customers at the new retail market. It was the latest stage in 800 years of market history in Birmingham, which began when Peter de Bermingham was granted a market charter by Henry II in 1156.
The Birmingham Post is celebrating its 150th anniversary by running a free open-air exhibition at Centenary Square, until January 3. All the images used in the exhibition can be ordered via our picture sales department on 0121 2345450. We're also keen to hear your memories of growing up, working and growing old in Birmingham.
