Notwithstanding falling capital values and slump in developer confidence, the Government is still proceeding to acquire further financial assistance from the property industry to support new infrastructure.

An integral part of the 'Planning Bill 2007' is the introduction of the Community Infrastructure Levy, known as 'CIL'. This will introduce charges to be levied on most forms of development to provide 'essential infrastructure', in addition to the current system of planning obligations attached to planning consents.
