Consumer lender Provident Financial posted a jump of almost 20 per cent in first-half profit yesterday, helped by lower losses at credit card unit Van-quis. Group profit before tax and exceptional items for the first six months - including the international unit, which it split from in July - rose to pounds 56.3 million from pounds 47 million a year ago.
The consumer lender's ongoing UK operations, which exclude businesses now part of International Personal Finance, saw a 19.4 per cent rise in profit before tax and exceptional items - including demerger costs - to pounds 38.2 million.See the full content of this document
