The Government is poised to scrap red tape which forces police to fill in a form every time they stop someone in the street, it emerged yesterday.

The controversial bureaucracy - introduced in the wake of black teenager Stephen Lawrence's murder - will be ditched in a bid to crack down on gun and knife crime.
