The Chief Constable of West Midlands Police yesterday called the increasing tendency to involve police in minor incidents a 'disappointing' development for officers on the ground.

But Paul Scott-Lee said he was not concerned by allegations that the police were now recording 'trivia' for statistical or political motives.
