Dear Editor, - Can I take the opportunity to thank your readers for the support they have shown to workers in their struggle to try and save Ryton. The trades unions have always acknowledged how difficult this task would be, especially with the way the company has behaved.

On April 18, when Jean Martin Folz, the chief executive officer, made his announcement to cease production at the Ryton plant, by failing to consult with the workforce he broke the law. He also broke his word. Folz himself had said he would talk to the unions prior to any decision being made. So much for honesty.
