The average annual cost of repairs for some used cars is as much as pounds 400, it was revealed yesterday Some models cost owners five times as much in annual maintenance as the bills faced by owners of the most reliable secondhand vehicles, a survey by the Warranty Direct company foundBritons spend almost pounds 4 billion repairing cars aged four to eight years old that break down after manufacturer warranties expire, the survey showed.
The Jaguar S-type was the most expensive used car to maintain, with an average annual repair cost of pounds 422.84. Next was the Audi TT (pounds 402.51) followed by the MG TF (pounds 399.35) Looking at the top ten most popular used cars, the most expensive to maintain was the Vauxhall Vectra with average annual repair bills of pounds 315.28.
