Britain's last Tommy joined serving Navy personnel to launch this year's poppy appeal as the Royal British Legion revealed they have seen the numbers of young serviceman needing their help more than double in a year.

Harry Patch, 110, is the last survivor of trench warfare on the Western Front and was joined by Falklands War veteran Simon Weston OBE on board HMS Somerset for a remembrance service.
