Britain may face an even chance of sliding into an outright recession as the Bank of England holds interest rates "higher for longer" to slay the dragon. In any event we are on course for a very deep and prolonged economic downturn.
This warning came yesterday from Deloitte's economic adviser Roger Bootle, who once wrote a book entitled The Death of Inflation" after the Bank held its official interest rate unchanged at five per cent for a third month.See the full content of this document
