Home Secretary Jacqui Smith has given her backing to airport- style metal detectors in some of the country's toughest schools.
Ms Smith said it was a "good idea" to look at how schools could use the search arches, following reports she will unveil proposals next month as the centrepiece of the Government's new violent crime action plan.See the full content of this document
