Had things worked out differently, Mozart could well still have been alive when Birmingham Town Hall opened in 1834. He might even have visited, as plans were afoot to bring him to these shores in the 1790s - sadly, he was dead before they could come to fruition.
But his music sits wonderfully in this elegant building, particularly when performed with the authentic kind of muscular grace delivered by the Salzburg Mozarteum Orchestra on Thursday.See the full content of this document
