Warwickshire are hardly the first side to fall foul of Shane Warne and they surely won't be the last, but rarely can a game of cricket have been decided so much by force of personality.

As bowler and captain Warne used all his skills, all his variation, all his experience and, it has to be said, all of his vocabulary to undermine a Warwickshire side that should have won this semi-final. The most galling aspect of this semi-final defeat it that it was largely self inflicted. When pressure was applied, Warwickshire buckled. Hampshire bowled very well indeed, but had Warwickshire's batsmen kept their heads, victory was theirs for the taking.
