Summary
UK manufacturing output showed a surprise fall in June led by declines in metal products and transport industries.
Figures from the Office of National Statistics showed that manufacturing output, which accounts for around 20 per cent of the UK's overall GDP, fell by 0.7 per cent in June from the previous month, well below analyst expectations for a rise of 0.2 per cent.
