It might have been arranged more for the benefit of Sky TV than the paying public, but there is no doubting the importance of the occasion as Worcestershire 'play host' to Lancashire at Taunton today.

The Pro 40 League might well be a subject for much debate within the game of cricket as to what purpose it serves - and has been ever since they first started messing with the highly successful product of 40-over Sunday League cricket in the early 1990s. But Vikram Solanki's men are top of the league, unbeaten in their four games so far and looking to make it five by stretching their lead at the top in their 'home game' at Taunton, more than 100 miles from Worcester.
