Taxpayers Count Cost of Splitting

Summary


Single mothers each cost the taxpayer up to pounds 154,000 to support over a decade, according to new figures published today.

The Centre for Policy Studies (CPS) think-tank, which calculated the sum, also said the average family break-up costs the Exchequer an estimated pounds 72,000 over ten years.
