Unions Say 2,000 Jobs Threatened by Ford

More than 2,000 jobs will be lost as a result of Ford's decision to end production at Jaguar's Browns Lane plant in Coventry, union leaders told MPs yesterday.

Giving evidence to a House of Commons inquiry, they also warned that Britain could stop building Jaguar cars entirely, with production going to the US. Ford has said its plans would involve the loss of 1,150 jobs, with production moving from Coventry to West Bromwich.
