While the second foot-and-mouth outbreak in Surrey in as many months has plunged the farming industry back into crisis, livestock owners may take some comfort from the farmer at the centre of last month's incident, who is already managing to rebuild his business.

Roger Pride, whose cattle were slaughtered when they were found to have been infected with a foot-and-mouth strain leaked from the nearby Pirbright laboratories, has reopened his farm shop.
