Dear Editor, If there's one thing for certain after the sun rising in the morning, it's that if people knew what political parties were really like (the plotting, the kowtowing, the favours, the domination, the intrigues, the double-dealing, the lies, the public image) they would be even less inclined to vote than they are now.

This week, the Tories have been bleating on about calling an election in a childish display of machismo they think will play well, when the fact is that an election this year would cause terrible problems of organisation with the new electoral register not taking effect until December.
