A lot of the music at this year's ArtsFest was meant to be Jamaican: the big question was, would the weather be Jamaican as well?

In fact, the Indian summer came tantalisingly close to lasting out Saturday's outdoor programme. The first sprinkling of rain fell on Centenary Square while Birmingham Royal Ballet were performing the balcony scene from Romeo and Juliet just before 8pm, and the first serious rain did not fall until the CBSO was playing an hour and a half later.
