A published playwright, and an established poet in his native Canada, this is John Bemrose's first novel. The town in which it is set, Attawan, is based on his childhood home of Paris, Ontario, and his memories of growing up there.
The beginning of the novel seemed over-wrought, with Bemrose seeking to lend metaphor to every description, often unnecessarily. But he soon hits his stride as the tale takes hold with strong characterisation and an engrossing multiple narrative.See the full content of this document
