Summary

It may seem like a previous ice age now but the arrival of Zinc in Birmingham seemed an affirmation at the time that the city was no longer being seen by outsiders as some kind of no-hope culinary slum. After all, with Conran's infamous remarks about Brum in times of yore, his decision to venture here looked particularly pertinent.

It was a shame then, that after all the fanfare, Zinc didn't actually seem all that good. It was OK but a bit pricy and a bit hit and miss. And I think it must have suffered early on when the hungry of the city didn't, after all, feel overwhelmed with gratitude at its presence and descend in their zillions.
